Anthony C. Jelks, the son of the late Dan A. Jelks, and Doris
Jelks, was born in Gadsden, Alabama. He graduated from Emma Sansom
High School and did further studies at the Birmingham Easonian
Baptist Bible College (Extension Center).
Pastor Jelks was called into the ministry in 1993. In 2000,
he was invited to become the Pastor of Lively Hope Baptist Church,
Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to coming to Lively Hope he was the
Pastor of First Missionary Baptist of Moody.
During his tenure at Lively Hope, Pastor Jelks, the visionary,
has incorporated ministries within the fellowship designed to
encourage and support not only the membership, but also the community
in which the church serves. Ministries such as the College Scholarship
Fund (which has assisted over 20 students), and the Outreach
Ministry (which ministers to the needs of the elderly and the
sick).
Pastor Jelks' leadership and his ministry are changing lives.
Many have been blessed, encouraged, inspired and delivered through
his ministering. He has proven himself to be an anointed teacher,
preacher and evangelist and travels extensively sharing the word
to those who desire to know God.
In addition to serving as the Pastor of Lively Hope, Pastor
Jelks also serves as 2nd Vice Moderator of the Peace Baptist
District Association.
